The Royal Mint is the official manufacturer of British coins in the United Kingdom. It is currently headquartered in Llantrisant, Wales, where it moved in 1968.

Operating under the legal name The Royal Mint Limited, it is a limited liability company wholly owned by His Majesty’s Treasury and holds an exclusive contract to supply national coins. In addition to minting circulation coins for the United Kingdom and international markets, the Royal Mint is a leading supplier of precious metal products.

Historically, the Royal Mint was part of a series of mints that were centralized to produce coins for the Kingdom of England, the whole of Great Britain, the United Kingdom, and the Commonwealth nations.

The Royal Mint operated for several hundred years in the Tower of London before moving to the building now known as Royal Mint Court, where it remained until the 1960s. When Great Britain followed the rest of the world in adopting a decimal currency system, the mint moved from London to a new 38-acre (15 ha) facility in the town of Llantrisant in Glamorgan, Wales, where it remains to this day.

Among its most famous coins is the Britannia coin.
