The “Enemies in History” series continues with “Custer vs. Sitting Bull,” which explores one of the most famous conflicts in American history—the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876.

At the heart of the story are two figures representing the opposing sides of this historic struggle: General George Armstrong Custer, an American military commander, and Sitting Bull, an influential leader of the Hunkpapa Lakota tribe and a spiritual authority. Their portraits on the reverse side of the coin face opposite directions, creating a striking visual representation of conflict, culture, and rival worlds.

The coin is struck from 2 oz of 0.999 fine silver, and its design utilizes Ultra High Relief smartminting technology, which lends the portraits remarkable depth and sharpness. Custer is depicted in his characteristic military uniform, while Sitting Bull is depicted with traditional details. The inscription “Enemies in History” forms the basis of the composition, while “Little Bighorn – A Vain Victory” refers to the historic clash.

The obverse continues this narrative with a detailed battle scene based on Charles Schreyvogel’s painting “The Duel,” which lends the design dynamism and a historical atmosphere.

This proof-quality coin with a face value of 1,000 togrogs, issued by Mongolia in 2026, is limited to just 500 pieces worldwide.
